That was another significant international recognition for Dr. N. Naum, President of the Hellenic Society of Cosmetic & Reconstructive Gynecology. He participated in the “1st Congress of Cosmetic Gynecology“, which was held under the auspices of the American Association of Continuing Medical Education in Cairo, Egypt. Cairo, Africa’s largest city, the heart of the Arab world and the “Mother of the World” for the Egyptians, hosted the conference on February 20 – 21, 2020. It was, in fact, the most important scientific event for all countries in the Middle East. More than 30 leading scientists in Cosmetic Gynecology, Dermatology and Plastic Surgery made speeches at the Congress. More specifically, 37 different issues were discussed regarding the functional and aesthetic restoration of the female genital area. Based on 15 educational modules, emphasis was placed on the popular and constantly evolving – globally – new field of Aesthetic Gynecology.

The imprint of Dr. Naum at the conference

Dr. Naum, with a very interesting – generally agreed – presentation, spoke about the problems women face in their vaginal area. In particular, the vagina loses its elasticity and sufficient moisture over time, due to the physiological decline of hormones. In fact, the doctor pointed out the need for women to have vaginal rejuvenation, in order to deal with the problems of vaginal atrophy and vaginal dryness; problems that, of course, hinder their sex life. He presented the ways in which Aesthetic Gynecology nowadays provides vaginal rejuvenation for women, comparing previous methods to newer ones. He also talked about methods that offer vaginal rejuvenation, either by laser or ultrasound or by a combination of them. At this point, he placed emphasis on the HIFU (High Frequency Ultra Sound) method and its advantages, comparing it to the previous method of CO2 laser.

A solution to two problems

The significant intervention of Dr. Naum, however, was mainly concerned with the Vagitense method. Dr. Naum explained in detail how this method works. It is a method that uses a fractional carbon dioxide laser and causes collagen regeneration. This neocollagenesis results in immediate and rapid tightening of the vaginal muscles and regeneration of its tissues. So, not only the problem of vaginal relaxation and dryness, but also the problem of incontinence can be addressed simply and quickly. Essentially, it is a method that can deal with two problems at the same time.

He also explained the key advantages of the method compared to interventions that have provided solutions to the specific problems in the past, placing emphasis on its superiority. It is a treatment that requires no surgery and anesthesia, while it lasts for only 30 minutes. Compared to pre-existing treatments, whose effects were temporary, the Vagitense method provides long-lasting results. All these are offered in 3-6 applications during a 4-week period and one repetition 1 year later.

It is worth noting that the Middle East is a rapidly growing and promising area in world medical tourism and that was the reason Cairo was chosen as the destination for the conference. As Dr. Naum also pointed out, every woman – anywhere on the planet – must be able to access the right information on all solutions science provides. Solutions to the problems of this particular area of her body, which crucially affect her well-being.
